SHARING and CARING…it’s what LIFE is all about!

The Pleasure of the Moment

AN AMAZING AND ENERGETIC BUNCH OF KIDS!

Do you remember the movie Back to the Future? It was released on July 3, 1985 bringing to the world an imaginary slant on visiting the past or jumping ahead into the future. Michael J. Fox played the role of a teenager who was accidentally sent 30 years into the past in a time-travelling DeLorean invented by his friend, Dr. Emmett Brown.  The movie’s popularity demanded more—President Ronald Regan even quoted the film in his 1986 State of the Union Address—and Parts II and III followed in 1989 and 1990.

In an interview, Michael J. Fox himself asked a very interesting question, “Is there really such a thing as a time machine that we can hop into, roar off through the cosmic calendar in any direction?” He then answered his own question, “No…not yet…maybe next year or a thousand years. No one knows.”

SUCH A WONDERFUL SMILE AFTER SHARING WHAT HE WROTE ABOUT SOMETHING SPECIAL!

I missed passing my French Authors exam in Grade 13 and as a result missed going to Teacher’s College, becoming a teacher and fulfilling a childhood dream. Of course, there was the option of night school and I did attend for a while. Then the working world got a hold of me and I moved on. But this past Tuesday I stood in a class room of 16 children and for almost two hours I felt as though I had jumped into the DeLorean myself and had a taste of what might have been…and what a ride it was!

SMILES ALL THE WAY AROUND!

VERY FOCUSED. VERY WELL WRITTEN!

As you have no doubt discovered, I love to write…nothing profound or earth changing, just some purposeful blogging. (Today might be an exception because I am totally in a nostalgic mood!) On Tuesday I had a chance to share my passion for writing with children in Grades 3, 4 and 5. We talked about discovering the FUN in writing using our energy and our imagination and I think the kids had fun learning. I know I did teaching them!

I FELT RIGHT AT HOME!

Energy, enthusiasm and humour bounced off the walls of the classroom.  Imagination, willing spirits and an innocence, that only children seem to have, permeated the air as we listened to each other and laughed together.

Absolute pure pleasure!

I have vivid memories of my primary school years; in fact, my very first blog describes my ‘journey back in time’ when I attended my school reunion last April. This past Tuesday helped me relive those memories when countless games of hopscotch or yoki and the kaiser in my school yard, skipping on the sidewalk in front of my house or sorting buttons on the front veranda on Sunday afternoons filled my world.

I totally enjoyed the pleasure of the moment.

THE FREEDOM TO JUST BE A CHILD!

There is no time machine to take us backwards, Michael, not now, a year from now or a thousand years from now…just memories! And Tuesday was another wonderful memory for this wannabe teacher who was given a glimpse of what happens when we tap into the minds of young children and have a positive influence on them. Hopefully I’ve built into their memories!

How blessed and privileged I felt.

You’re right, Ruth, the kids, not to mention their teacher, had a great time and are all eager for you to come back. I never knew you had once dreamed of being a teacher; you would have been a good one. Many thanks from Heritage Christian School! You know you’re welcome any time!
